From our base in the beautiful medieval village of Warkworth, we aim to promote a love of the Northumberland tartan, to those who live within the borders of the Secret Kingdom and for native Northumbrians around the world.

The Shepherd or Border plaid is the official tartan of the county. Originally woven with the natural black and white sheep's wool, natural plant dyes were later used to produce the distinctive check. The pattern itself, whilst thought to be one of the oldest known plaids, is clean, stylish and can look wonderful in either a traditional or a modern setting.

Nowadays, it is possible to display your own pride in our wonderful county, with a range of Northumberland tartan fabrics, products and gifts.
